Richard Smith frequently acts as an expert witness for the court and is a member of the Royal Institute Chartered Surveyors expert witness scheme. He was appointed Diocesan Surveyor in 1987 and, along with Michael Challacombe, deals with the management of Diocesan property in the Barnstaple Archdeaconry.
